The New Zealand Health IT Cluster is a vibrant alliance of organisations interested in health IT, comprising software and solution developers, consultants, health policy makers, health funders, infrastructure companies, healthcare providers, and academic institutions - who have agreed to work collaboratively.

The Cluster's Vision

Our Vision is NZ is a Centre of Excellence for Health Technology

The Cluster’s Mission

Collaborate to position New Zealand as a world leader in the supply and use of innovative health technology

The Cluster's Goals

Key goals of the Cluster include:

·        To help members grow their business capability

·        To foster collaboration

·        To catalyse innovation and investment in health technology

·        To be financially sustainable

The Cluster undertakes advanced technical research for the healthcare sector, and provides world-class integrated health information solutions to healthcare customers worldwide.

What New Zealand is doing with health information systems is highly relevant to any country’s healthcare sector, regardless of how it is structured. It’s all about developing ways of reducing information fragmentation so that patients can have access to the best possible care at the most appropriate time and setting.

Collaborative Health Projects

The Cluster leads collaborative health projects to allow members to showcase their expertise and develop their capabilities. The Cluster runs a concurrent programme of projects, with typically two or three projects in different stages of development. We are focussed on health technology and developing healthcare solutions that demonstrate the interoperability of systems along the continuum of patient care.

The diverse membership of the Cluster allows participation by a variety of organisations. We ideally look for a mix of multinational and locally based organisations that have complementary capabilities. Project teams are typically between five and ten member organisations in size.

Benefits of participating in collaborative projects can include; new reference implementations and case studies, local and international exposure, enhancement of existing solution offering, development of new solution components, experience in working collaboratively in a multi vendor environment, and the opportunity to form new relationships with other sector participants.
