NZTE have funded a Visiting Media Programme (VMP) and as part of the initiative sponsored by the NZ-Japan Aichi Leveraging ICT project Mr Waichi Sekiguchi, an ICT reporter with Tokyo’s largest economic daily paper The Nikkei, visited the NZ Health IT Cluster in March 2007.

The NZ-Japan Aichi Leveraging ICT project aims to educate NZ ICT companies about the Japanese marketplace, assess market potential and encouraging direct interaction with possible strategic partners to initiate new deals.  Phase two is about to kick off with a focussed business mission to Japan in July 9-13. 

The VMP aims to showcase NZ innovation in a variety of key sectors to business audiences in the journalists’ home countries; in this case, we focused on the ICT sector.  As a result of the recent visit the New Zealand health sector and IT industry capability has been featured in The Nikkei Business Daily 10th April 2007. To date, NZTE have had a total of five articles written, four in the Nikkei Business Daily and one in the Nikkei Shimbun.  All with excellent coverage in one of Japan’s leading economic/financial/business daily news papers, some even hitting the front page.
