R&D partner wanted for PSAF funded project
Posted: 28 May 2007

The Knowledge Engineering and Discovery Research Institute (KEDRI, www.kedri.info ) at the Auckland University of Technology (AUT) is developing an integrated ontology-based software platform for personalised decision support systems.

The proposed system is expected to provide significant improvements and benefits over the current simplistic statistical methods employed by traditional decision support systems, in terms of accuracy, reliability, depth of analysis and new knowledge discovered.

The generic platform brings together ontology knowledge repository methods and systems, as well as machine learning techniques to facilitate sophisticated adaptive data and information storage, retrieval, modelling and knowledge discovery.

We are applying for co-funding for this project from the New Zealand Foundation for Research, Science and Technology (FRST) under their PSAF scheme. The first year of the project will include development of the prototype platform, which will then be demonstrated to potential commercialisation partners. The second year will see the development of client-specific customised decision support systems, licensed for commercialisation and/or research use. In the second year one third of funding is expected to come each from AUT, PSAF and the interested development partner.

Please let us know if your organisation would be interested in being listed as a potential R&D partner in this PSAF funded project.

As a R&D partner, your organisation would have a first look at the prototype system expected at the end of the first year and the option of joining the project for customisation and further development of the decision support system based on your specific needs.

A more extensive summary of our project is in the attached file.

We look forward to your response at your earliest convenience, as we are progressing fast to get the project started. For further information, do not hesitate to contact either Prof. Nik Kasabov (nkasabov@aut.ac.nz) or Dr, Ilkka Havukkala (ilkka.havukkala@aut.ac.nz).
