Health Management System Request for Information - December 2008

The Health Management System: Request for Information issued on 22nd of December 2008. A copy of this RFI can be downloaded at www.gets.govt.nz Ref: 24585.

The Health Management System Collaborative (HMSC) currently comprises 7 DHBs, with the support of the New Zealand Ministry of Health. Other DHBs may subsequently participate in the Collaborative. The HMSC vision is a significant step up from that provided by current health information systems, and the collaboration of 7 or more DHBs in this RFI has the potential to profoundly alter the market both now and in the future.

The HMSC vision is to establish an individual-centric health information management service that delivers a single unified view of the electronic health record for any individual, available to all clinicians and the individual regardless of the point of care delivery and the district they work/live in. The solution/s must address hospitals, the community and primary care, rest homes etc as well as patient needs. The HMSC wish to identify vendor solutions both local and internationally that will enable their vision. Solutions may be derived from a single supplier source, or may cover only a subset of the overall requirements.

We have invited Cluster members to comment on the RFI. The Cluster will then present the consolidated industry view to the Ministry of Health and the collective DHBs.
