Business Development Forums

The May 2008 Cluster Business Development Forum series "Recruiting and Retaining IT Skills" has now completed.

We would like to thank all the presenters who made the forums such interesting events. We would also like to thank the members that hosted the events, Vodafone, Microsoft and TelstraClear and to Simpl for hosting the luncheon in Auckland. Without your generosity the forums would not be such a success.

We will shortly be sending the forum attendees a feedback feedback questionnaire.  We would also like Cluster members to suggest topics that they would like to see covered at the business development forums. If you have any topics that you think would make good topics for upcoming business development forums please send them in to Renu at r.borst@healthit.org.nz.

Presentations from the forums are available on the Cluster website from our library. Scroll down to the bottom of the page http://www.healthit.org.nz/index.cfm/fuseaction/download/fusesubaction/docs/documentID/17

Hudson Recruitment report on what motivates job seekers?

Hudson IT&T recently participated in the latest Health IT Cluster business development forum across the country.   Campbell Hepburn, General Manager presented insights and market perspective on recruiting and retaining IT skills, whilst challenging our thoughts on the future of the sector and the need for collective ownership of the skills issues if we are to ensure sector sustainability.

Campbell further touched on Hudson's recently released 20:20 Series report, titled Candidate Buying Behaviour: An Exploration into the Key Motivators of Today's Job Seeker which reveals major gaps between what job seekers want from prospective employers and what employers are actually delivering. The report explores what triggers someone to change or even consider changing jobs, preferred job search channels, job ad likes and dislikes, how job seekers compare prospective employers, and the different motivators that drive candidates through the different stages of the job search process.  The report provides the most current insight into the question of "what motivates employees and job seekers?" The detailed report can be accessed through the following web page http://nz.hudson.com/node.asp?kwd=hudson-2020-series

Whilst the report overviews the complete research findings, Hudson have further drilled into skill specialisation and can present specific findings on IT&T.  They have been running workshops presenting IT&T findings whilst looking at the topic through the lens of your organisation.  These have been successfully delivered one on one or to groups of managers responsible for IT recruitment.

Campbell welcomes your enquiries and can be contacted at campbell.hepburn@hudson.com

Business Development Forum feedback

We have included a feedback form so you can have your say about what you thought about the forum. We would also like to hear from Cluster members with ideas about what would make good topics for upcoming forums. Please download the feedback questionnaire, complete it and either email or fax it back to j.taiby@healthit.org.nz or fax 04 472 4736.

Some ideas for upcoming topics could include.

  •  Software as a Service. A mix of expectations and experiences from customers and providers.
  • Partnering collaboration and alliances. A similar theme to last year's popular series on identifying and selecting partner organisations. This year's theme could be around integrating devices and software solutions.
  • Access to Venture Capital.
