Addressing the issue of how we ensure our rural areas make the most of improving connectivity and technology, and what our aspirations should be for the next 10 years or more.
For the last five years we’ve hosted the annual rural connectivity symposium in Wellington because we wanted to be close to the Government and their decision makers on investment in rural connectivity.
But this year we want to bring the full focus back to the sector that this is all about - rural Aotearoa New Zealand. So, we’re on the move from Wellington to Hamilton - a bustling city in the middle of one of the most important farming areas in the country.
And while we will still be asking some of the key players to up date us on progress, we really want to talk about the impact of what's being done - addressing what will it deliver, what are the benefits for rural business and communities, and then helping decision makers understand what rural NZ really wants from them. Obviously there is all sorts of discussion to come out of the recent COVID-19 lock down period including but not limited to, do we know what’s available, what's coming in the future, and what would we want if we could have it.
To help guide the discussion we want to address this simple question:
“Are we making the most of the technology we have available to rural NZ today?”
Obviously there is all sorts of discussion to come out of that question including but not limited to, do we know what’s available, what's coming in the future, and what would we want if we could have it. We already know that the use of connected technology is going to play a huge part in how we farm in the future, and how we address the issues of sustainability and environmental impact.
Join us in 2020 at this iconic event where our theme will be Smart Rural. Come along and take the opportunity to shape our near future in rural Aotearoa New Zealand.
